Shedd Aquarium Wins Big with Loveable Amphibians

Shedd Aquarium asked Bridgewater Studio to take interactive “environmental” marketing in a whole new direction by using completely in-house 3D sculpting and CNC services to create giant frog sculptures in a lifelike lily pad suspension environment at the Water Tower Place Shopping Mall in Chicago.

The first step was to create a virtual representation of the creatures by scanning a 3D solid model. After the digital modeling phase was completed, our CNC router handled the 3D carving, at which point the carved pieces were reassembled and suspended 135 feet for all to see. Our in-house team owned every step from design and fabrication to the final art installation.
