When the Chicago Children’s Museum decided to permanently renovate its public Art Studio, the goal wasn’t to simply design a functional space for kids to draw and paint—it was to create an unforgettable experience that brought out the artist in every young visitor. Partnering with famed local artist Hebru Brantley, an idea was born.
Concepts from Hebru Brand Studios and the Museum were brought to Bridgewater Studio, where our design development process ensured ergonomics, safety, activity integration, and traffic flow all met museum standards, while accurately achieving the artist’s vision.
Once design and construction documentation was finalized, it was time to build and install. Fabrication included a custom entrance with vacuum formed clouds, a themed kid's clubhouse with one-of-a-kind, custom furniture, a toy ceiling and interactive coloring wall, a unique sensory and learning area, and graphics for the interior of the studio, featuring Hebru Brantley’s iconic artwork.
“Bridgewater Studio was a great partner on a complex project with multiple stakeholders. They provided expertise along with a grounding perspective. We had a terrific experience with the team!”
