Putting the "Fab" in Fabrication with Pop Artist Ashley Longshore

New Orleans / New York artist Ashley Longshore has taken the world by storm, building a global brand with a daring style that promotes positivity and authenticity. In her journey from self-taught artist to Pop Art icon, Ashley has collaborated with the likes of Gucci, Maybelline, and Diane Von Furstenberg, has been featured in Vogue, Elle, and Forbes, and … you get the picture. Ashly Longshore is a big deal in art, fashion, and culture.

When she asked Bridgewater Studio to design and fabricate two custom 3D art pieces for her New Orleans studio, Longshore Studio Gallery, we knew it was going to be a blast.

Our designs for “The Foxglove Chair” and “The Orchid Chair,” evolved from rough sketches to fully-realized 3D models, where Ashley was able to visualize and fine tune perfect digital representations of each piece. As semi-functional artwork, both chairs needed to be sturdy and spectacular. Fabrication included metal shaping and plastic vacuum forming to achieve the desired contours. The pieces were then painted and finished with powder coating and vinyl wrapping, before being carefully packed and shipped to the gallery for display.
