COCA-COLA
Global creative agency 160over90 contacted Bridgewater Studio with the idea of transforming a United Airlines lounge into a “cozy winter cabin” for Coca-Cola. The concept called for a pop-up activation to bring comfort and nostalgia to weary travelers at O’hare Airport, courtesy of the iconic refreshment brand.
With the agency providing a look-book for inspiration, the Bridgewater team was tasked with bringing it all to life—through design visualization, fabrication, transport, and installation.
Our first step was to conduct a site survey of the proposed location. A thorough spatial study allowed us to digitally experiment with various sizes of the pop-up experience in the space. Then, we developed concept renders to showcase several different elements requested by Coca-Cola and provided by 160over90, including vintage branded props and a retro refrigerator. With all parties able to visualize the entire space in a realistic 3D environment, every detail could be finalized before fabrication began.
The next step in our digital fabrication workflow was to build out the space at our production facility and perform rigorous testing to ensure all elements would hold up to heavy use in a high-traffic environment. The fabrication process was a full team effort, including 3D modeling, CNC cutting, custom millwork, hand sculpting, painting, wide format printing, and more.
With setup, predress, and final tweaks made at the studio, we packed up and headed to the airport for a smooth installation. Last, but not least, our strike team returned after the activation to remove the pop-up with minimal disruption. The entire setup was transported and safely stored for a future activation. Built to last!
Our thanks to 160over90 and Coca-Cola for a perfect partnership and a seamless process.
